Government of Gujarat provides food items free of cost to G1 lakh poor families

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Wednesday that the Gujarat government will launch food items like wheat, rice, pulses and sugar free of cost to families with April 1 lakh ration cards from April 1.

The plan is to ensure that the poor, dependent on everyday employment, are not affected by the 21-day lockdown in the country due to outbreak of coronavirus and do not have to buy food items in April, he said. Meeting in Gandhinagar.

Rupani also requested people to stay indoors for 21 days.

Gujarat has reported 38 cases of Corovirus and one death due to Covid-19.

The entire state is under lockdown.
